Some of us are born morning people – others, not so much. And a select few, like new puppy parents, have fired the morning at them, like it or not.
Puppies sure are cute, but they also have some needs and wants that make their human moms and dads miss out on other things like sleep.
Here are five things only puppy parents understand when getting ready in the morning with a brand new puppy.
A puppy’s need to pee takes precedence over yours

Perhaps the first thing you did before you got a puppy was saunter into your bathroom, plop down on the toilet, and take a few minutes to do your business.
Once you have a puppy, that morning routine is a thing of the past.
The first creature to get bathroom privileges is your puppy, and they’ll take care of that, whether it’s outside in your backyard or inside on your new rug.

The snooze button is a thing of the past

Before you got a puppy, it was easy to snooze once or twice — or a few more — and take a few extra luxurious minutes between dreaming and waking up before the reality of the day hit you.
Puppies really have good hearing — almost supernatural — and can feel the moment you open your eyelids. That’s the signal to jump around and beg to be let out, right?

A morning walk becomes a great way to start the day

For non-puppy parents, the idea of having a twenty minutes walk around the block to make sure your pup is eliminated everything may seem like a burden.
While it can certainly be a lifestyle change at first, it quickly becomes a great part of your morning routine.
Get some cardio out and break in your puppy at the same time? It’s a win win.

Your pup helps you sort out your wardrobe

A puppy may just want to help you choose which shoes to wear and which shoes to leave your wardrobe and become their new chew toy instead.
Some days you give in and let them chew on the old sneaker. Other days it’s worth swapping toys for your shoe and the desired behavior of not eat your expensive pumps.

Puppy parents know that even if they are dragged out of bed at 4 a.m., it will be secretly worth seeing that adorable face so full of energy and excitement at the crack of dawn.
Morning Puppy Syndrome is contagious and before puppy parents know it, they are morning people too.
