Houston – For providing animal shelters with solid support through the non-profit group he founded, Leave It for the Pooch, a 14-year-old Houston resident. Jason Kimberly earned Reward from hero to animals from PETA. The youth center is currently collecting T-shirts from animal rescue organizations to create blankets that will be auctioned to raise funds for the maintenance of stray animals.
“Jason helps animal shelters stay afloat during difficult times with his extraordinary initiative, kindness and dedication,” says Martha Holmberg, Senior Director of PETA Youth Programs. “PETA is pleased to recognize him for showing that young people can have the biggest hearts for animals.”
About 70 million dogs and cats in the United States are homeless at any given time. An estimated 10% of them end up in animal shelters, where many end up being euthanized for reasons including injury, illness, old age, emotional and psychological damage, and lack of good homes. This is why PETA is advocating with Jason for adoption and encouraging guardians to neuter or neuter their companion animals.
