More than a dozen sponsors have severed ties to the grueling dog sledding race in Alaska after hearing from PETA and our supporters, including four so far. this year… But we must continue to pressure and convince VUit to sever ties with the race and cancel plans to broadcast the brutal and deadly event.

More than 150 dogs have died as a result of Iditarod, not counting all those who died in the offseason, being shackled on the street like bicycles in freezing temperatures, or those who were shot or beaten to death because they lacked rare speed and endurance. need to make an estimate.

No dog would ever decide to run so fast and with such force as to suffer horrific injuries, chronic lung damage, or even death after inhaling its own vomit. These dogs are no different from those with whom we live in our homes, who only want to live and enjoy friendship with love. Using them for a chance of fame and cash prize is a form of arrogance – a worldview focused on human excellence – and this must be stopped.

I am alarmed to learn that VUit is streaming Iditarod content despite being cruel to dogs.  More than 150 dogs have died as a result of the Iditarod since the race began, not counting countless others who have died in the offseason while being chained or killed simply because they lacked the speed and stamina needed to reach their goal.  Up to half of the racers fail to finish due to stretched muscles, stress fractures, diarrhea, dehydration, intestinal viruses, pneumonia, or bleeding ulcers.  In late 2018 and early 2019, a PETA eyewitness worked in two kennels owned by former Iditarod champions and found widespread neglect and suffering.  The dogs were denied veterinary care due to painful injuries, they were constantly kept on chains next to decrepit crates and plastic barrels in severe frost and forced to run even when they were exhausted and dehydrated.  Please follow the lead of Alaska Airlines, Chrysler, Coca-Cola, ExxonMobil, Jack Daniel’s and other big brands that have already cut ties with Iditarod, and do not broadcast this brutal race.
