Mill Valley, California. – After a new PETA Asia investigation of exotic skins revealed widespread abuse of snakes and crocodiles in Vietnam, Samuel Hubbard Shoe Company has just confirmed to PETA that it no longer uses exotic skins in its products. As a token of gratitude, PETA is sending the company a box of vegan chocolates shaped like an alligator.

“Alligators, snakes and crocodiles don’t require us to think of them as cute or cuddly – they just want us to leave them alone,” says PETA executive vice president Tracy Reiman. “Samuel Hubbard made a sympathetic choice to abandon an industry that puffs, hits and shocks sensitive animals, and PETA is urging shoppers to stick with retail stores that ditch exotic skins.”

PETA Asia’s investigation of a farm in Vietnam that supplies snake skin for use in the global leather industry reveals widespread cruelty to snakes, including sealing their mouth and anus with rubber bands, then inflating them to death with an air compressor, crushing them. heart and causing severe pain.

PETA Asia also recently received new videos from a farmer showing the killing of crocodiles showing piles of animals that were wrapped in bags with their mouths closed so they could not move. A worker stepped on them and rudely stunned them, then other workers stabbed them with a metal blade. Despite trying to stun them, they still moved when workers tried to kill them.

Samuel Hubbard joins Brooks Brothers, Jil Sander, Chanel, Diane von Furstenberg, HUGO BOSS, Victoria Beckham, Vivienne Westwood, Phillips-Van Heusen and more in banning exotic leather.

PETA – whose motto is in part that “the animals are not ours” – opposes arrogance, a worldview focused on human superiority. For more information please visit PETA.org or subscribe to the group on Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram…
