Indianapolis – “I am I, not MEAT.” This is a message from a fish that appears on a PETA cart. last billboardwhich just appeared outside local Long John Silver restaurant to encourage the company to help meet the rapidly growing demand for healthy and organic food by preparing vegan fish.

“Most fast food chains now offer delicious vegan options, so selling an artificial fish sandwich should be an easy task,” says PETA executive vice president Tracy Reiman. “PETA billboard will help people sea the gentle and inquisitive animals behind every fish sandwich or shrimp taco. “

PETA is stepping up its efforts following the release of the Netflix documentary. Sea piracywhich explores the global fishing industry and challenges the notion of “sustainable” fisheries. The group praised the film for explaining how human actions cause widespread environmental destruction.

More fish die each year for food – billions in US waters alone – than all other animals combined. These animals, now known to feel pain as keenly as mammals, have long-term memory and sing underwater, are pierced, crushed, suffocated, or cut and gutted, all in consciousness. Aquafarms, containing thousands of fish prone to lice infestation due to rearing in dirty and cramped enclosures, are creating an ecological disaster.

PETA, whose motto, in part, is “The animals are not ours to eat,” and which opposes a specialism, a worldview focused on human excellence, notes that many varieties of artificial fish are available today, including no fish “by Gardein, Good Catch’s plant -Tuna-based, New Plant-Based Shrimp from New Wave Foods and Sophie’s Kitchen Vegan Crab Cakes.

The billboard is located next to Long John Silver’s Restaurant at 7140 Pendleton Pike.
