Baltimore – On Tuesday, a PETA supporter dressed as an owl will deliver nearly 300,000 petitions to the office of Johns Hopkins University (JHU) President Ronald Daniels, while activists vigorously protest against the horribly violent, admittedly useless and blatantly illegal, JHU experimenter Shrisha Mysore. brain experiments on barn owls.

    When: April 6, Tuesday, 12-13.

Where: JHU, 3400 N. Charles St. (at the main entrance to Garland Hall), Baltimore

Mysore crashes into the skulls of barn owls, implants electrodes into their brains, forces birds to be placed in plastic tubes or jackets so tight that they cannot move their wings, holds their eyes open and bombards them with sounds and light for 12 hours. In the end they are killed. Mysore intends to use up to 60 barn owls in its current set of experiments, including six birds for the surgical practice of its staff only.

“Barn owls mate for life, bond with their siblings, share their nests with other species and do not belong to the experimental facility any more than we do,” says PETA Vice President Dr. Alka Chandna. “PETA urges Johns Hopkins to end his barbaric experiments with the brain on owls, which are not conducive to improving human health and cost taxpayers more than $ 2.5 million.”

PETA, whose motto is in part that “animals are not ours to experiment on” – opposes specisism, which is a worldview focused on human excellence. For more information please visit PETA.org or subscribe to the group on Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram…
