Seattle – Tomorrow, in black funeral suits, PETA supporters will erect 90 gravestones outside the Washington National Primate Research Center (WaNPRC) at the University of Washington, each representing 100 monkeys killed by WaNPRC since 1961.

When: Thursday, 8 April, 12 noon

Where: 1205 NE Pacific St., Seattle

In addition to the thousands of monkeys deliberately killed in mindless experiments that, 60 years later, have failed to create a single commercial vaccine or cure for deadly human diseases, the monkeys at WaNPRC have died of asphyxiation, hunger, dehydration and bleeding. traumatized by other monkeys under stress and suffocating from their own vomiting, as well as due to veterinary error and negligence.

“The WaNPRC has the blood of 9,000 monkeys,” says PETA primatologist Dr. Lisa Jones-Engel. “PETA is calling on UW to close this cruel laboratory and release the surviving monkeys to respected safe havens where they can finally enjoy peace, friendship and proper care.”

PETA, whose motto is in part that “animals are not ours to experiment on” – opposes arrogance, a worldview focused on human excellence. For more information please visit PETA.org or subscribe to the group on Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram…
