New York – During Kering’s annual meeting on Thursday, Gillian Anderson will urge the fashion house to ban fur on behalf of PETA, which has been a shareholder since 2020. The actor also sent a letter on behalf of PETA to Kering CEO François-Henri Pinault, urging the fashion titan to create the company – a sweeping fur ban policy. Kering confirmed last month that Balenciaga and Alexander McQueen are officially fur-free, leaving Saint Laurent and Briony as the company’s only foes.

“Fur requires toxic chemicals to keep the hides from decomposing, and fur farms are breeding grounds for disease,” Anderson writes. “It is illogical to keep this shrinking and dangerous trade afloat for the few remaining unscrupulous designers who have not yet given up their fur habit.”

In her letter, Anderson, who starred in PETA’s “I’d rather go naked than wear fur” campaign, told exposing video Fur Farms – Notes that using toxins to prevent skin decomposition is hampering Kering’s resilience mission and that fur farms have spread COVID-19 to workers and wildlife. Several countries have reported mutations in the new coronavirus that originated in fur farms.

As the PETA revelations show, many animals killed for their fur spend their entire lives in cramped cages, where they feverishly pace up and down, gnaw on cage bars and even self-harm. They are often killed by gas poisoning, electric shock, drowning or poisoning, and some are even skinned alive. Hundreds of top designers and retailers have ditched fur, including Burberry, Prada, Chanel, Gucci, Donna Karan, Michael Kors, Versace, as well as Saks Fifth Avenue…

PETA – whose motto is in part that “the animals are not ours” – opposes arrogance, a worldview focused on human excellence. For more information please visit PETA.org or subscribe to the group on Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram…
