Ann Arbor, Michigan. – Inspired by Tree Town’s laudatory goal of achieving zero carbon emissions by 2030 and the city’s recent ban on fur sales, which was motivated in part by environmental concerns, PETA advertises on local buses offering leather production. under fire for the aggravation of the climate crisis.

Livestock raising, including the leather industry, which makes up the bulk of the profits from meat and dairy products, –responsible for nearly one fifth of all anthropogenic greenhouse gas emissions… The World Bank reports that livestock has caused more than 80% of deforestation in the Amazon rainforest since 1970, as well as wildfires, many of which are deliberately designed to clear land for raising cows and growing crops to feed them, as well as due to higher temperatures and droughts, parts of the Amazon are now emitting more carbon dioxide than they can absorb.

“Avoiding skin is a simple step we can all take to prevent a climate catastrophe, but we are running out of time,” says PETA executive vice president Tracy Reiman. “PETA is asking people to save the skins of cows and everyone else by choosing vegan bags, shoes and furniture ”.

The production of leather not only harms the planet, which does not return it, but is also terribly cruel to cows. A video footage of PETA, the world’s largest leather manufacturer, revealed that the delicate animals were branded on their faces, electrocuted and beaten before being violently killed.

The ad will be shown on five buses running around the city for one month.

PETA – whose motto is in part that “the animals are not ours” – opposes arrogance, a worldview focused on human excellence. For more information on collecting news and reporting on PETA investigations, please visit PETA.org or subscribe to the group on Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram…
