San Francisco – National Seafood Month (October) is just around the corner and PETA has decided.tunaty rank Top 10 Vegan Seafood Brands in North America, and local companies Kuleana and Jinka make this list! Kuleana vegan tuna for sushi and nutrient-rich artificial loch made from seaweed, koji and radish are available at Poké Bar as well as Erewhon Market. Jinka makes delicious vegan tuna in a variety of flavors, including Dill Lemon and Spicy, available at GTFO It’s Vegan !, NoPigNeva.com, and Whole Foods.

“We have enjoyed trying so many vegan dishes, and the bagel-ready Kuleana goo and Jinky tuna prepared for baguettes are off the hook“Says PETA President Ingrid Newkirk. “PETA’s favorite brands will help anyone celebrate National Seafood Month by leaving marine animals at sea where they should.”

Vegan seafood is free of saturated animal fat and cholesterol. and prevents fish from gutting on fishing boat decks, getting live lobsters into boiling water and dismembering crabs while they are still awake. And vegan meat is more popular now than ever – sales are up 148% in 2020 from the previous year, and 47% of Americans want to include more vegan foods in their meals in 2021.

Other winners include BeLeaf of the Industrial City, California; Gardein in Richmond, British Columbia; Good Catch in Newtown, Pennsylvania; May Wah Vegetarian Market in New York; and The Plant Based Seafood Co in Grimstead, Virginia. Each company will receive a framed certification from PETA, which offers many vegan seafood recipes on their website.

PETA, whose motto is in part that “the animals are not ours to eat” – opposes arrogance, a worldview focused on human superiority. For more information please visit PETA.org or subscribe to the group on Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram…
