Miami – Cate del castillo today sent a letter on behalf of PETA and PETA Latino to Eduardo Albor, CEO of Dolphin Cancun, which plans to buy the Miami Marine Aquarium, urging to send the lonely killer whale Lolita to the seaside sanctuary before it dies. Several dolphins have recently died of injuries in small concrete tanks. Del Castillo took action after an inspection report showed Lolita had recently suffered eye damage, fed on partially decomposed fish, and was forced to continue performing stunts that likely injured her.

“Lolita has a chance to reunite with her long-lost family, but only if you give the floor,” writes del Castillo. “I ask you – at a time when the world is desperate for good news – please be a hero by letting Lolita live her remaining years at home.”

V Queen of the South, Weeds, and 33 the star also appeared in The day of the Dead– PETA and PETA Latino themed advertisements, in which she paid tribute to the many killer whales and other dolphins who died in marine parks, from Tilikum at SeaWorld to Hugo, who repeatedly bumped his head into a wall at the Miami Aquarium.

PETA Latino – whose motto, among other things, is that “animals are not ours to use for entertainment” – opposes racism, a worldview focused on human superiority. For more information on PETA Latino please visitPETALatino.comor subscribe to the group onTwitter,Facebook, orInstagram…

This is followed by a letter from Del Castillo Alboru.

    Eduardo Albor, CEO

    Dolphin company

    Dear Mr. Albor:

I’m writing to you today because I can’t stop thinking about Lolita, the lonely killer whale at the Miami Aquarium. She has been swimming in circles for more than half a century – and you have the power to bring her relief and a second chance at life in the seaside reserve.

Following the takeover of a marine park in China, British amusement operator Merlin Entertainments transported two belugas, Little White and Little Gray, to a seaside reserve in Iceland. You can do the same for Lolita right now. Please give her the life she deserves. Let her swim long distances, dive deeper, and maybe even connect with her family again. Scientists, researchers and industry experts have endorsed Seaside Reserves – safe ocean bays where previously captive killer whales can thrive in the sea while still receiving food and veterinary care as part of the rehabilitation process.

Global calls for Lolita’s release are louder than ever, when it became clear that the Oceanarium for decades has not been able to provide animals with even the bare minimum necessary for their well-being. As you should know, an incriminating federal inspection report revealed a variety of animal welfare violations at the facility, including keeping incompatible dolphins together that eventually died from injury, feeding the animals bad fish, forcing Lolita to perform stunts that are likely , damaged her jaw, and repeatedly acting contrary to the instructions of their own veterinarians.

Over the past 51 years, Lolita has suffered in the smallest killer whale aquarium in the world. She was kidnapped from her family and led a life that I would not wish on my worst enemy. She still has time to experience the ocean currents and live like a killer whale should. Her family still swims in the waters of the Pacific Northwest, and many believe her mother is alive. Lolita has a chance to reunite with her long-lost family, but only if you give your word.

When Dolphin buys a park, all eyes are on to make sure you do the right thing. I ask you – at a time when the world is desperate for good news – please be a hero by letting Lolita live her remaining years at home.

    Yours sincerely,

    Cate del castillo
