Erie County, Pennsylvania. – PETA offers remuneration up to USD 5,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the man (s) who shot three dogs last week and apparently left them drowning in Howard Eaton’s Reservoir.
According to The ANNA Shelter, who is assisting the Pennsylvania State Police with its investigation, the body of one dog was found and brought to the police at around 5:00 pm on Wednesday, October 20. The police arrived at the scene and found two other dogs nearby. Three small pit bulls – a black dog, one black bitch and one brown bitch, each weighing 35 to 39 pounds – all had injuries consistent with dog fighting and wore quick-release collars commonly used in organized dogfights. The shelter believes the dogs were submerged and shot sometime between Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning and that their bullet wounds would have been extremely painful but not fatal, so they probably drowned.
Pennsylvania State Police have yet to make any arrests in this case, and PETA is hoping for public assistance to prevent more dogs from being tortured and killed.
“Organized dogfighting rings can drop their victims in Erie County,” says PETA vice president Colleen O’Brien. “PETA calls on everyone with answers to come forward so that whoever shot these dogs and left them drowning in horror and agony will be held accountable.”
