When Chris Perez sees a dog left in a hot car, he takes action, even if it means using the guitar that made him famous – the one on which he wrote music and performed with it as the lead guitarist of Selena y Los Dinos – to to break the window.
“When I hear about a dog [who] staying in the car is very frustrating. It’s sad, says Perez. So he teamed up with PETA to remind music lovers that beats should be hot dogs.

On a 70-degree day, the temperature inside a parked car can soar up to 99 degrees in 20 minutes, and on a 90-degree day, the temperature inside the cabin can reach 109 degrees in just 10 minutes. Parking in the shade and slightly lowering the windows have little effect on the temperature. Animals can suffer brain damage or even die from heatstroke in as little as 15 minutes, so leaving your dog in the car for “just a minute” is too long.
And that’s not the only message Perez wants to convey to fans. He also encourages them to adopt rather than shop. “I think it’s a great thing to adopt. I am so proud of my daughter for doing it herself and I will definitely do it, ”he said. “When you buy a dog from a breeder or from a store, in fact the dog at the shelter loses [an] opportunity for life. “

Always accept when you are ready to add companion animals to your family, neuter or neuter them, keep them safe indoors, and never leave them alone in the car.
If you see a dog locked in a car, follow Perez’s example and take action! Write down the make, model, color, and license plate of the car, and ask the owner to indicate nearby buildings while someone else watches the dog. If you cannot find the owner, call the humane authorities or the police.
If the dog is in imminent danger and help has not arrived, find a witness to back up your assessment and, like Perez, do whatever you can to save the dog’s life. Take the animal into the shade and give it water while you wait for the authorities to arrive. Most states have passed laws specifically to protect people who rescue an animal or child caught in a hot car, and law enforcement is supportive of the Good Samaritans.
Car glasses are replaceable. There are no dogs.
