When: October 21, Thursday, 18.00
Where: Baltimore Center Stage, 700 N. Calvert St., Baltimore
Under Collins’ leadership, the NIH has spent nearly half of its budget – $ 19.5 billion in 2020 – on animal experiments. yearlyeven though 95% of new drugs that are tested for safety and efficacy in animals fail in human clinical trials, and more than 90% of basic research, most of which involves animals, fails to cure humans. PETA’s research modernization deal offers a strategy for phasing out this research.
“By clinging to outdated animal experimentation, the NIH gets in the way of good science,” says PETA Senior Vice President Katy Guillermo. PETA Calls On President Biden To Move Us At 21st century with a new director of the NIH who understands that new therapies, vaccines and drugs will emerge from modern human research. ”
PETA, whose motto is in part that “animals are not ours to experiment on” – opposes arrogance, a worldview focused on human excellence.
