Following the successful rescue of the world famous elephant Kaavan two weeks ago, the global animal welfare organization FOUR PAWS International managed to evacuate the last two animals to Margazar Zoo, The Himalayan brown bears Susie and Bublu.

FOUR PAWS transported the bears by plane yesterday from Pakistan to Jordan where they will find a suitable house in the reserve Al-Ma’wa for Nature and Wildlife – controlled Princess Alia and FOUR PAWS Foundation.

Susie and Bubloo’s departure means there are no more animals left at the Islamabad zoo, which is finally closing its gates for good.

because the August 2020, FOUR PAWS, together with Pakistan Ministry of Climate Change, Islamabad Wildlife Management Board (IWMB), and with the financial support of an American businessman Eric S. Two bears, Susie and Bublu, have gone through years of suffering. Before they got to the Marghazar Zoo, they were abused as so-called dancing bears. So that they did not hurt the owner and the audience, almost all of the teeth were removed for both bears.

The FOUR PAWS team also found serious animal behavior problems. Veterinarians had to undergo emergency surgery on 17-year-old Susie back in August 2020, as she suffered from a severely infected chest wound, likely due to recent removal of a tumor.

“After witnessing the departure of the recently rescued elephant, Kaavan, Susie and Bublu finally began their new life. With their departure to Jordan, we can provide the bears with the treatment and care they desperately need, ”said Dr. Amir Khalil, FOUR PAWS veterinarian and head of the rescue mission. statement. “After nearly four months of hard work in Pakistan, we are locking the gates of Marghazar Zoo once and for all.

“The last minute lifting of export permits for bears was a short-lived setback last week, but fortunately the High Court of Islamabad and the IWMB have again ruled in favor of animal welfare,” Khalil concluded. The transfer would also never have been possible without the support of the Pakistani community, as well as financial assistance from American businessman Eric S. Margolis.

We are happy Susie and Bubloo will now begin to live their beloved and beloved lives at the Sanctuary. Al Ma’wa for nature and wildlife.
