Norfolk, Virginia. – Now that 47% of Americans want to include more vegan foods in their diet, this Thanksgiving promises to be the most vegan. To help vacation planners plan their meals, PETA has createdpieheaded Top 10 Vegan Pies served throughout the country.
Here are the winners, coast to coast:
- In the western US, a perfectly flavored spicy pumpkin pie from Corin’s bakery in Tacoma, Washington picks up a pie. Key lime pie from Sweet Hazel & Co. Murray, Utah also found room for a sweet and savory custard topped with fresh, dairy-free whipped cream.
- In the heart of America, the winners are Blackberry Raspberry Pie from Stockholm Pie and General Store in Stockholm, Wisconsin, with its famous vegan double puff pastry; Spicy Creamy Pumpkin Cheesecake Pie from Sinfull bakery in Houston; pecan pie from Ezra’s Enlightened Cafe Indianapolis, rich in dates and a sweet-salty pecan and nut crust; and sweet potato pie from Southern Roots Vegan Bakery in San Antonio, with a delicious custard combining fresh sweet potatoes and spices.
- On the East Coast, the winners were Dutch apple pie with cinnamon and brown sugar from Mo’Pwiz Bakery in Denville, New Jersey; peach pie with bourbon crumb Cola kitchen in Concord, New Hampshire; coconut sweet potato pie from Clementine Bakery in Brooklyn, New York; and chocolate cream pie – dark chocolate and oat milk in a layered crust, topped with aquafaba whipped cream – from Bonafid Bakery and Cafe in Apex, North Carolina.
“These decadent desserts add a festive flavor without a single egg or milk,” says PETA executive vice president Tracy Reiman. “From peach to pumpkin to pecan, PETA celebrates all vegan tarts that make it easy to enjoy a delicious vegan feast that leaves chickens and cows alone.”
Vegan desserts are not only free from saturated animal fats and cholesterol, but they also save animals a lot of suffering: in the dairy industry, calves are torn from their mothers shortly after birth, and in the egg industry, chickens are cut off. hot blade when they’re only a few days old.
Each diner will receive a framed PETA certificate that offers: free vegan recipes for Thanksgiving on their website.
