Dodgeville, Wisconsin. – After PETA’s first-of-its-kind revelation revealed that crying alpacas are roughly cut, cut and bleed from deep wounds, End of earth banned alpaca wool. PETA sends a box of delicious vegan chocolates to the company as a token of gratitude.

“No sweater or scarf is worth the blood and horror of a vulnerable animal,” says PETA executive vice president Tracy Reiman. “Lands’ End has the power to ban alpaca wool, and PETA is asking kind buyers to do their part by keeping alpacas out of their wardrobes.”

A PETA investigation reveals that workers threw alpacas, some of whom were pregnant, onto tables, tied them tightly by their legs to a counter, and pulled them hard, nearly knocking their legs out of their sockets. Frightened animals spat, screamed and vomited with fear as workers grabbed them by the ears, roughly cut them, threw them on the concrete floor, and roughly sewed up their bloody cuts with a needle and thread.

Lands’ End has previously banned angora and mohair after horrific PETA revelations and appeals. PETA acquired shares in the company last year to push it to ban all other materials taken from animals, including alpaca. Lands’ End now joins UNIQLO, ESPRIT, Ann Taylor, LOFT, Columbia and more in banning alpaca – and PETA is urging Anthropologie to follow suit.

PETA, whose motto is in part that “animals are not in our hands” – opposes specisism, which is a worldview focused on human excellence. Investigative photos are available here, and broadcast quality footage is available here. For more information please visit PETA.org or subscribe to the group on Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram…
