Etobicoke, Ontario – On the first Friday of Lent, PETA’s Christian division, LAMBS (which means “LEast ANDhope MY Bbrothers and Sisters ”Matthew 25:40) will be working with The Hogtown Vegan to prepare a vegan fish roast at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, whose pastor, Father Donatello Iocco, is a proud vegan. The first 40 people who book a plate, which can be picked up from the church from 4:00 pm onward, will receive a delicious Phish ‘n Chips dinner featuring two fried faux fish fillets, crispy fries and tartar sauce. is free…

“Pisces feel pain and fear and cherish their lives, just like humans, so saving them on Good Lenten Friday or any other day of the year is a blessing,” says PETA Vice President Daniel Paden. PETA and LAMBS show believers how easy it is to show mercy to all God’s creations just by choosing delicious vegan food. “

“When we choose a plant-based lifestyle, we know that we are kind and caring towards ourselves, others and all of God’s creation!” – says Yokko.

On Fridays during Lent, many Catholics and other Christians abstain from meat, but since many of them do not consider fish meat to be meat, these days countless parishes and organizations sell fish dinners. More fish are killed each year than all other animals combined, and they slowly suffocate or die to death when dragged out of the oceans in huge nets. Those who survived have their stomachs cut open on the decks of fishing boats while they are still alive.

Anyone who goes vegan saves about 200 animals each year; reduces their risk of developing cancer, heart disease, strokes, diabetes and obesity; and may even help stave off future pandemics, as SARS, swine flu, avian flu and COVID-19 all arose from keeping and killing animals for food.

LAMBS, whose motto, interpreted by PETA: “Animals are not ours. They are God’s ”, – believes that creation in the image of God is a call to compassion and mercy, and not to domination and violence. The group is also hosting vegan fish potatoes in two other Christian cities – Providence, Rhode Island, and Charlotte, North Carolina – with the aim of fostering animal kindness, encouraging support for local eateries, and helping families struggling to supply food. on the table.

To reserve a plate please contact Iocco at [email protected] or 416-251-8282 Thursday or Friday before 13:00
