Leopard Geckomorphs: The Complete List of Leopard Geckomorphs

As with all animals commonly kept as pets, leopard geckos have been selectively bred to produce a wide variety of different breeds known as ‘morphs’. Today more than 150 different unique leopards gecko morphs have been documented by breeders over the years! While it would be nearly impossible to list them all here, I’ve put together a comprehensive list of over 60 morphs, from the most popular to the rarest.

Read on to learn more about how these unique morphs are created to represent different colors, patterns, and even sizes! In addition, the list below is arranged alphabetically with details on each type of gecko. If you’re considering adopting one of these lively geckos or are just trying to determine which form your own gecko is, you’ve come to the right place!

What are Leopard Gecko Morphs?

Before going into the full list of leopard gecko morphs, it helps to understand what a “morph” is and how it is made. Essentially, you can think of a morph as just another name for a specific “race” of a reptile (in this case a leopard gecko).

These breeds can arise from genetic mutations or have been purposely bred to pass on specific dominant or recessive genes. In recent years, many morphs have been repeatedly bred together to produce more and more geckos with different skin colors, eye colors, pupil shapes, shell patterns and sizes. Leopard geckos are hardy and docile small lizards, so they are very easy to breed in captivity.

Over the decades, the list of morphs has grown from about a dozen different types to over 150! Unfortunately, it would be almost impossible to list them all here, as the list is constant growing and changing now more than ever.

Still, I managed to find and list over 60 specific morphs below. These morphs are arranged alphabetically and there is a brief description of each one’s appearance and other known details about their background and origin.

Leopard Gecko Morphs List: AD

• Albino/Amelanistic: Geckos without melanin. Usually a light yellow, pink or cream color with slightly darker markings. Due to heavy selective breeding, there are many variations of albino geckos, such as patternless or red-eyed ones.
• Divergent: These geckos have a unique “broken” pattern on their tail or body.
• APPROPRIATE: Tremper Albino Patternless Orange. Similar to RAPTOR geckos, although they do not have red eyes.
• Aurora: A newer morph with white, yellow and pink color. A combination of the Bell Albino and White and Yellow morphs.
• Bald: These geckos have a solid color rather than just a pattern on their heads.
• banana storm: Patternless. Usually yellow/white in color.
• Bandit: Bandit leopard geckos have a solid stripe across their nose that resembles a mask.
• Bell Albino: Made by and named after Mark Bell. Pink eyes and light brown spots with a purplish base color.
• black night: Solid black with a grey/white belly.
• Black Pearl: Patternless black with a whitish underside. Related to melanistic geckos. Similar to the Black Night morph.
• Blowing Snowstorm: Created by crossing a Blizzard gecko with an Albino gecko. Patternless with bright yellow, lavender and orange discoloration.
• Snowstorm: Patternless geckos with a gray base color and solid black eyes.
• Bold stripe: These geckos have two parallel black pinstripes running down their backs.
• Carrot Head: Geckos with bright orange heads.
• carrot tail: Similar to Carrot Head geckos, but with bright orange tails instead.
• Ice cream: Cross between Mack Snow and SHTCT geckos. White body color with orange and yellow patterns.
• white devil: Created by Ron Tremper. A combination of Blizzard and RAPTOR geckos. Solid white body with solid bright red or pink eyes.
• Dreamsicle: A combination of the Enigma, RAPTOR and Mack Snow morphs. White and pink solid body color with orange spots and pink eyes.

Leopard Gecko Morphs List: EL

• Eclipse: A unique feature where the gecko’s eyes are solid black.
• Human: A combination of the Murphy Patternless and RAPTOR morphs. Yellow body with solid red or pink eyes.
• Emerald / Emerald: Geckos with greenish patterns. Made by Ron Tremper in 2004. Can have many different patterns.
• Puzzle: Originated from a random genetic mutation. Produced by Mark Bell in 2006. Enigma geckos have a unique pattern that starts out as spots and turns into small specks as they age. They are controversial to breed because they are prone to Enigma syndrome, which causes many neurological problems. They have been crossed with several other morphs, such as Blizzard and Tangerine.
• Fire water: Created in 2006. A cross between the Albino and Lavender morphs. Usually has a broken pattern and lots of vibrant orange and purplish colors.
• Giant/Supergiant: Can be of many different colors and patterns. Bred for their large size. One of the first morphs created in 2000.
• Ghost/Hypo Ghost: These geckos have very few patterns on their bodies with a predominantly light gray or lavender base color.
• Godzilla Supergiant: Similar to the Giant and Super Giant morphs, but even bigger!
• Halloween Mask: Just like Bandit geckos, in that they have very dark, dense patterns on their heads that resemble a Halloween mask.
• high yellow: Similar to the standard Wild Type Leopard Gecko, but with smaller black spots and a more vibrant yellow base color.
• Hybino: As the name suggests, this is a cross between the Albino and Hypo morphs. Solid, bright yellow color with a white belly.
• Hypomelanistic: Geckos with a reduced amount of melanin in their skin. Must have 10 or fewer black spots on his body (spots on the head and tail do not count). Usually bright yellow body color.
• hell: Created by P. Kline. Vibrant orange and red body color, usually with diminished/broken patterns.
• Jungle: A gecko with broken, irregular patterns on its body and tail.
• Lavender: These geckos have minimal patterns and a light purple-pink base color.

• Lemon Frost: A newer morph with a very bright, pale yellow base color. Controversial as they are genetically predisposed to skin tumors.

Leopard Gecko Morphs List: MR

Finally, we’re more than halfway through our list of morphs!

• Mack Snow: Created by John and Amy Mack. Very little to no yellowing; mostly black and white.
• Tangerine: Created by crossing multiple Tangerine morphs. Very bright orange/red color.
• Marble eye: A specific property that causes the gecko’s eyes to have a unique marbled color and pattern.
• Melanistic: Geckos with an increased amount of melanin in their skin. Usually mostly black and gray or solid black in color. Contains the Black Pearl and Black Night morphs.
• Murphy patternless: A classic morph created by Pat Murphy in 1991. These geckos lack all patterns on their head, body and tail. Can be yellow, white or even purplish in color.
• NDBE: Abbreviation of ‘Noir Desir Black Eye’. A mutation that causes geckos to have solid black eyes.
• New: A combination of the Enigma and RAPTOR morphs. Created by A&M Geckos in 2007. These geckos have pink or reddish eyes and a very light body color with little to no patterning.
• Onyx: These geckos have a predominantly grayish base color with very dark, dense black patterns/spots.
• Paradox: An unusual mutation that causes a trait that normally shouldn’t exist in a particular morph, such as an albino gecko with a black spot or a melanistic gecko with white spots.
• Pastel/Mack Pastel: Similar to Tremper Albino geckos. These geckos have a very pale pastel color and patterns.
• Patternless: Any morph that has little to no patterns on its body. Contains Blizzard, Patternless Stripe and Murphy Patternless morphs.
• phantom: An extensive combination of different morphs, mainly SHTCTs and TUG Snows. Created by The Urban Gecko. Very pale pink and yellow color with pale diminished patterns and pale pink eyes.
• RAPTOR: Abbreviation of “Red-eye Albino Patternless Tremper Orange.” Created by Ron Tremper in 2004. A combination of the Eclipse, Patternless Stripe and Tremper Albino morphs.
• RAPTOR Enigma: A cross between the RAPTOR and Enigma morphs. Created by A&M Geckos in 2007. Pale pink and yellow skin with pink eyes.
• Red stripe: These geckos have a pale yellow stripe outlined by two thin reddish orange stripes running down their backs. Usually orange or yellow base color.
• Reverse Stripe: Geckos with thin, dark stripes that run the length of their bodies. The color of the base body and tail is usually much lighter in contrast.

Leopard Gecko Morphs List: SZ

• SHT: Abbreviation of ‘Super Hypo Tangerine’. Mostly tangerine orange body color and no black spots.
• SHTCT: Abbreviation of “Super Hypo Tangerine Carrot Tail.” A combination of several properties. May have no spots on his body and a predominantly orange tail with a body color of tangerine.
• bowling: A rare, fairly new morph known for its unique coloring and jungle pattern. Lots of green and purple hues throughout the gecko’s body.
• snake eyes: A unique eye property that is a variation of the Eclipse property. Eyes have very thin pupils, similar to those of a snake.
• snow glow: A cross between the Mack Snow, Albino and SHTCT morphs. Very pale yellow, orange and pink color with diminished, pale patterns.
• stealth: Combines Eclipse, Bell Albino, and Mack Snow traits. Unique reddish eyes, yellow and pinkish white base color and light brown or orange spots.
• Sunbeam: A cross between the SHTCT and Albino morphs. Vibrant orange, yellow and white body color with few patterns apart from the head and tail. Tail is usually white.
• Super Hypo: These geckos lack the typical black spot body patterns present in Wild-Type geckos. While the head and body are usually yellow and white, the tail may have some black spots.
• Tangerine: Usually bright, tangerine-orange color on the gecko’s head and body. Tail can be a combination of orange and white with black spots.
• Tremper Albino: Discovered by Ron Tremper in 1996. The body color varies from orange and yellow to pink and white. These geckos usually have silver eyes with red hues.
• Typhoon: Combines Rainwater Albino, Eclipse and Patternless properties. Solid black eyes with a very light orange and yellow body color, little to no pattern and a white underbelly.
• Wild type (Standard/Normal): The default morph from which all other morphs originated.
