Since PETA began its efforts to eradicate arrogance in 1980, we have strongly opposed all forms of harassment, including discrimination against the LGBTQIA + community. Through decades of energetic campaigns, passionate calls to action, flashy demonstrations, groundbreaking investigations and more, queer PETA members and supporters around the world have helped us become force must be reckoned with. In this month of LGBT history, join PETA to celebrate their invaluable contributions to animal rights.

The artist was blacklisted by national radio stations for his participation in PETA’s public service announcement “Meat Stinks”. Slaughtering supporters were apparently so outraged by her PETA anti-meat ad that they defiled her hometown with a homophobic message.

In 1999, newly released Ellen DeGeneres hosted the PETA Millennium Gala.

In 1996, the one and only RuPaul took center stage on the cover of one of our first guides to ruthless makeup. announcing, “Mom always said that it should be without fat, without duties and without cruelty!” And Lady Bunny hosted parties called “Fur is a Top” in nightclubs in Los Angeles, New York, London and Paris. It was more than 20 years before drag racing champion Sharon Needles played a major role in our anti-meat campaign.
