Our pick of the best vegan desserts for Valentine’s Day 2021

After much thought (and a sweet tooth), we’ve compiled this list of delectable desserts to celebrate vegan Valentine’s Day – all of these compelling treats made with no harm to animals. Mother’s cow’s milk is for her baby, and nearly every free-range egg comes – quite shockingly – from chickens that are housed in cramped conditions and ultimately slaughtered. Show your love for animals by making your treat vegan.

Here’s a list of PETA’s Best Vegan Desserts for Valentine’s Day in 2021:

Tiramisu Cheesecake – Planty Sweet, Albuquerque, New Mexico

Planty Sweet is Albuquerque’s first 100% vegan and gluten-free dessert shop specializing in gorgeous and colorful cakes, cheesecakes, baked goods and custom orders. Pickup orders can be placed on its website, or you can find these goodies at various farmers’ markets. This tiramisu cheesecake is decadent, creamy and frankly perfect.

Peanut Butter Pie –Sea Salt and Cinnamon, Various Locations in Indiana

Everything about Sea Salt & Cinnamon is vegan and delicious, but we celebrate this bakery for its rich peanut butter pie, which includes a whipped peanut butter filling, a crust of crackers without honey, and a little chocolate. Sea Salt & Cinnamon delivers goodies in Fort Wayne, Indianapolis, and Muncie, Indiana.

Bundt Chocolate Cake – Quincy Bake Shop, Oklahoma City

Chef and owner Tricia O’Donoghue studied at the French Pastry School in Chicago and brought her skills back to her hometown with the help of Quincy Bake Shop. Vegan baked goods are available at the store, including a gluten-free daily flatbread and a personal-sized Bundt Super Moist Chocolate Cake garnished with tender ganache.

Flower Cupcakes – The Littlest Bake Shop, Kansas City, Missouri

Littlest Bake Shop is the first fully vegan and gluten-free bakery in Kansas City. The seasonal menu features treats such as these flower cupcakes with almond and pink icing and matcha leaves. Order in advance for pickup and you can add a warm drink as well.

Cinnamon Rolls – Dulce Vegan Bakery & Cafe, Atlanta

Dulce Vegan Bakery & Café offers organic vegan sandwiches, coffee and pastries in the Atlanta area. Its cinnamon rolls are soft and airy with a decadent frosting that we consider to be one of the best. They can be picked up on weekdays, and on Sundays you can order a box of four online. Oh, and why not add a Unicorn Latte; a sandwich with vegan sausage, egg and cheese; or something else from the menu.

Vegan Vanilla Cappuccino Cupcake – Little Owl Café, Fairbanks, Alaska

The vegan vanilla cappuccino muffins at Little Owl Café are covered in a lush vanilla-coffee icing and lightly sprinkled with cinnamon. The café also offers vegan cream oatmeal cookies, German chocolate muffins and Bundt mini cakes with a lemon-lavender touch. You can also dine on your own sweet treats such as a very vegan sandwich.

Raspberry-filled donut dipped in chocolate – Izzy B allergen-free bakery, Norwalk, CT

Allergen-free bakery Izzi B prepares delicious organic, vegan and gluten-free options, including this unique chocolate-covered raspberry donut. You can order a pickup online or choose the delivery option throughout the country.

While some of these desserts will only be on sale for Valentine’s Day, all of these small businesses have delicious vegan treats that will make you smile all year round.

Opening hours and availability may vary due to COVID-19, so be sure to double-check with every business and order online for a secure, socially remote pickup.

You can support local businesses, prevent future pandemics, and combat animal cruelty by choosing vegan desserts over desserts made from dairy and eggs stolen from cows and chickens. Cows, chickens and all other animals are as loving, emotionally complex individuals as we are. They care deeply for their families and communities, and we owe them an end to our specialism and give them the respect and dignity they deserve.

If you’re looking to celebrate vegan Valentine’s Day but don’t live next to any of these winners, you can find vegan bakeries that deliver treats right to your doorstep. Or find a recipe to help you make your own at home:
