Baltimore – Three owl-masked PETA supporters will shut down on the Johns Hopkins University (JHU) campus on Tuesday to protest the horrendously brutal, admittedly futile and blatantly illegal brain experiments by JHU experimenter Shrisha Mysore. The lawsuit comes two weeks after PETA filed a formal complaint with government officials alleging that Mysore had not received mandatory permits for years.

    When: Tuesday 9 March 12:00

Where: JHU, at intersection E. 34th and N. Charles Streets, Baltimore

In his laboratory, Mysore cuts out barn owl skulls, implants electrodes into their brains, forces birds to place them in plastic tubes or jackets so tight they cannot move their wings, holds their eyes open and bombards them with sounds and light for up to 12 hours. In the end they are killed.

“PETA is warning the Johns Hopkins community of animal suffering and waste of money behind closed laboratory doors,” says PETA Vice President Shalin Gala. “The university and taxpayers should stop giving Shrish Mysore millions of dollars to torture and kill owls in experiments that don’t help humans in any way.”

PETA, whose motto is in part that “animals are not ours to experiment on” – opposes specisism, which is a worldview focused on human excellence. For more information please visit PETA.org or subscribe to the group on Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram…
