New York – Following a campaign by PETA US and other PETA organizations, PETA’s US patronage by Gillian Anderson, and a stock purchase to persuade the company to ditch fur, the Kering Group announced today that it will no longer sell fur to all of its brands, which means Saint Laurent and Brioni join Bottega Veneta, Gucci, Alexander McQueen and Balenciaga in ditching fur. Below is a statement from PETA President Ingrid Newkirk:
“PETA supporters who sent tens of thousands of letters to Kering, protested in front of a Saint Laurent store, or doused then-Gucci designer Tom Ford with tomato juice can celebrate today’s announcement that all Kering brands are ditching fur. No one with a heart will wear fur, no sane designer will touch it, and any fashion house that still sells it in 2021 would be a shame. “
PETA – whose motto is in part that “the animals are not ours” – opposes arrogance, a worldview focused on human excellence. For more information please visit PETA.org or subscribe to the group on Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram…
