Trapped in the smallest killer whale aquarium in the world, she hasn’t been able to dive or swim in any meaningful way since she was torn away from her family and home by the ocean. She has been unable to communicate with another member of her species since 1980, when her tank mate, Hugo, died after repeatedly hitting her head against a wall. PETA Latino held another demonstration outside the Miami Marine Aquarium to demand that Lolita be released into the appropriate coastal hideout. To kick off the event, the group unveiled a huge banner, with attendees and supporters walking towards the facility. Excited protesters confronted visitors with Lolita’s intolerable living conditions right before the sea animal prison opened.
PETA Latino has visited the Miami Marine Aquarium four times over the past year, asking them to end decades of bullying Lolita has suffered and release her to the sea shelter.
