    Jones Creek, Georgia. – PETA is offering rewards up to $ 5,000 for information leading to the safe return of five recently stolen turtles from Autry Mill Wildlife Refuge; and criminal convictions of the kidnappers.

    The three suspects, whom police believe to be young men, were captured on surveillance footage removing turtles from their enclosure and placing them in a bucket at 6:20 pm on Sunday, September 19. Autrey Mill notes that it is illegal to keep box turtles. without a license in Georgia – and that turtles are unlikely to survive if left in nature.

    Jones Creek Police Release Photos Of The Suspects And PETA Is Asking The Public To Help Identify Them –before it’s too late for the missing turtles.

    “Turtles know their ‘home range’ and will suffer every day because of the separation from home and the guardians they know,” says Stephanie Bell, senior director of PETA’s Cruelty Casework division. “PETA is asking anyone who recognizes these suspects to come forward immediately so that these turtles can be safely returned home.”
