Salisbury, North Carolina – Below you can find a statement from PETA Senior Vice President Daphne Nachminovich in response to the announcement that the curator of the Salisbury Police Department in North Carolina, who was filmed insulting K-9 named Zuul, has resigned after public outcry and investigation:

Salisbury has taken a step in the right direction, finally listening to international protest over the drag, drag, hit and hit K-9 Zuul. However, questions remain unanswered, including why it took five months and a viral video where other officers witnessed the abuse and some city officials knew about it. We want to know when the brutality charges will finally be brought and what the Salisbury Police Department is doing to implement modern, humane training methods so that no other K-9 suffers like Zuul. PETA looks forward to progress and transparency.

PETA, whose motto is in part that “animals are not in our hands to abuse them in any way,” is opposed to arrogance, which is a worldview focused on human superiority. For more information please visit PETA.org or subscribe to the group on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram.
