Savannah, Georgia – To commemorate Earth Day (April 22), a PETA supporter will go outside to shower behind a curtain that shows how much water is used to make just 1 pound of beef or two slices of cheese – and she to tell the truth with a solution: just go vegan.

    When: Thursday 22 April 12:00

Where: At the intersection of W. Broughton and Bull Streets, Savannah.

“The meat and dairy industry is draining our aquifers and trying to curtain from their destructive role in climate change, ”says PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman. “This Earth Day, PETA is asking everyone to eat vegan food throughout the day, at least to help save water, animals and the planet.”

Animals used for food live in squalid, cramped conditions and die in terror in slaughterhouses. PETA’s Earth Day campaign, which also includes billboards and partnerships with over 50 vegan restaurants, is calling on everyone to save the lives of nearly 200 animals each year by going vegan, which also helps save water as it grows water-intensive crops just to it takes more than half of the water used in the country to feed the animals raised for their meat. Livestock runoff is also a major contributor to the pollution of rivers and lakes.

PETA, whose motto is in part that “the animals are not ours to eat” – opposes arrogance, a worldview focused on human superiority. For more information please visit PETA.org or subscribe to the group on Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram…
