San Francisco – After PETA shared with Gap Inc. how small animals trapped in glue traps suffer for several days – tearing their flesh, breaking bones and even trying to gnaw off limbs in an attempt to escape – the company not only removed, but also banned traps. more than 2,500 stores, including the Old Navy and Banana Republic chains. As a token of gratitude, PETA is sending Gap Inc. a box of mouse-shaped vegan chocolates.

“By prohibiting nasty glue traps, the Gap proves that it loves small animals,” says PETA executive vice president Tracy Reiman. “PETA encourages shoppers to speak loudly if they see a glue trap on a property and encourage this location to follow the Gap’s merciful example.”

This may take days for animals trapped in glue traps and died from exhaustion, injury, dehydration, suffocation or blood loss. The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) warns against the use of glue traps as trapped animals continue to excrete urine and feces, posing a risk to human health. Glue traps also do not eliminate the source of the problem: if the holes are not blocked and the attractants are not removed, new animals will simply come to the place of those killed.

Dozens of retailers refuse to sell glue traps, and hundreds of companies and institutions, including The home depot, Jp morgan chase, Goldman Sachs, Public storage, U-haul, and more than 100 airports have banned their use.

PETA – whose motto, among other things, is that “animals are not ours to abuse” – opposes arrogance, a worldview focused on human superiority, and offers advice on humane rodent control.
