In violation of government regulations, Governor of Montana Greg Gianforte caught and killed grey Wolf in February on a ranch 10 miles north of Yellowstone National Park, according to Mountain West News Bureau.

After a sickening hunt on a ranch owned by a media mogul and campaigner, Gianforte shamelessly kept the hide and skull of a slain wolf.

“It’s amazing to know that it’s even possible to break Montana’s lax rules about killing wolves,” said Michael Robinson of the Center for Biological Diversity. statement. “The must-have lesson on trapping wolves, which the governor missed before setting the trap, warns of how to avoid public controversy while committing extreme brutality. Governor Gianforte’s violation of whitewashing rules perfectly reflects his government’s brazen and shameless treatment of these environmentally important animals.

The Gianforte violation came 10 years after Congress passed a budget bill that was supposed to remove wolves in Montana and surrounding states from the endangered species list. The move ignored previous court orders that long-hunted animals still need federal protection.

Montana has sadly increased the number of killed wolves within its borders, and Gianforte is expected to support additional wolf-killing bills to be introduced to the state legislature.

“Wolves are vital to their ecosystems and are cherished by many Montana residents and visitors,” Robinson said. “The massacre in the northern Rocky Mountains is unjustified and disgusting, much like the governor’s grotesque behavior.”

When Trump administration offered to remove protection from almost every gray wolf in bottom 48 states, at Dec 2019 Center launched its Call of the Wild Campaign, holding rallies and public hearings throughout the country. Their campaign, combined with the efforts of their allies, produced 1.8 million comments against the plan.

Despite the Center’s legal victories and massive public support for gray wolves, Fall 2020 g. The service has completed its decision to strip federal protection of all coyotes except for a small population of the Southwest (listed separately under the Act).

This “de-listing” rule should have taken effect at the beginning January 2021 after the Center and its allies have already filed a notice of intent to file a claim. Their notice said that it was illegal to remove the protection because the wolves had not recovered. The decision also contradicts modern wolf conservation and taxonomy science and ignores concerns expressed in peer review by leading national wolf scientists.

Simply 6000 wolves borrow less than ten% its historical range in bottom 48 states. Establishment of wolf populations in remaining suitable habitat in Northeast, South Rocky Mountains, Southwest, Pacific Northwest, California, and elsewhere, will provide a future for wolves and allow them to play their valuable ecological role in much of their former home territory.
