Nina, Wisconsin. – Upon learning that Tullar Primary School students participated in a dairy-supported program, PETA’s Humane Education Department, TeachKind, sent letter to School District Superintendent Nina Joint, requesting permission for Carly, a life-size PETA mechanical cow voiced by Alicia Silverstone, to make a presentation. During the visit, which will mark Carly’s first school visit since the pandemic began, she could offer a different perspective on the dairy industry and give the children an actual but age-appropriate lesson about cow’s milk production.

In the letter, TeachKind indicates that the farm participating in the milking program allows calves to be raised in cages and fed with pasteurized milk, which means that they are taken from their mothers… In the dairy industry, this is a common practice: calves are separated from their mothers just a few days or even hours after birth and are not allowed to breastfeed during their natural lactation period. Instead, the milk intended for them is sold to people.

“Young people have a natural affinity for animals and deserve to know the truth about how tender cows suffer in brutal dairy farms,” says Martha Holmberg, senior director of PETA youth programs. “TeachKind encourages Tullar Elementary to equip its students with facts, not fairy tales, and let them draw their own conclusions.”

TeachKind – whose motto is partly “Animals are not ours to eat” – took Carly to schools across the country, where she shared the thrilling story of her escape from a dairy farm and the sad fate of her beloved babies. debunks harmful myths about the dairy industry, promotes healthy eating, and fosters compassion and respect for animals in caring children.

The group opposes arrogance, a worldview of supporters of human superiority, according to which cows and other animals are nothing more than commodities. For more information please visit TeachKind.org, Instagram, or Facebook…
